A 19-year-old Winfield man was injured Sunday when he was struck by a car in the Dixie Avenue crosswalk in front of the RUC, Cookeville police said.
Micah Kidd, 19, of Winfield sustained head, arm and leg injury at approximately 9:17 p.m. when Charles Key, 55, of Cookeville, failed to yield to the pedestrian, the police report said.
Kidd was walking west in the crosswalk from the east dorms to the RUC when he was struck by Key's 1992 Ford Crown Victoria.
"The driver stated that his windshield was foggy and his defrost was not clearing the windshield," Officer Brian Long's said in the report.
According to the report, the impact of the accident knocked Kidd down, causing him to sustain his injury.
Kidd was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center by EMS. Key was also transported to CRMC for blood alcohol and drug testing. Charges are still pending upon result of these tests.
Key was given a citation for no insurance and a second citation for not yielding to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, according to the report.
Officer Long marked physical impairment and emotional under driver conditions in the report.
